Camp Director: Andy Findlay, USPTA P1

As the Intense Tennis Camps' 20th-year director, Head Pro at Pennbriar A.C. in Erie, PA, and N. Allegheny Mountain's USTA Tennis Service Representative (TSR), and with over 40 years of tennis experience, Andy Findlay brings the magic of the Intense Tennis Camps to picturesque Slippery Rock University of Pa.
Co-Director Matt Meredith, PTR, a DuBois, PA native, began his college coaching career at SRU in 1996. In a 16-year span, Coach Meredith, who sports 25 years of teaching experience, has surpassed the 250-win mark. A 1992 Rock graduate, Matt was a two-time team MVP, three-year letterman, and a four-time captain during his playing days. He was especially effective in doubles matches, as he compiled a 38-20 record. As a coach, he is a six-time PSAC Coach-of-the-Year and claimed the ITA East Region's top honor in 2002 and 2008. In May 2011, posting a 15-7 record, the Rock, #39, hosted and finished 2nd in the NCAA DII Atlantic #2 region. That's 5 straight trips to the NCAA DII tourney and 20 wins in 4 of the past 5 seasons! After launching a very comprehensive 10andUnder Tennis program on the SRU campus, Coach Meredith was named the 2011 USTA/ITA QuickStart Tennis Provider-of-the-Year Award.

From 1992-2003, Andy was the Head Coach at Edinboro University of PA where he was the men's PSAC Coach-of-the-Year in 2000 & '03. Also, Andy serves as Co-Head Coach at the USTA Competition Training Center in Pittsburgh and has attended 35 USTA national workshops. In July/Aug., he coaches the USTA MS Boys' 18s at national championship events in Champaign, IL and Kalamazoo, MI.
In 1999, Andy completed the USTA’s High Performance Coaches seminar program in Miami. Also in '99, Andy passed the USTA's Sport Science Level I & II testing, and he won the national USTA Collegiate Community Service Award for Div. II schools. In 2010, Findlay was named the USPTA MS Pro-of-the-Year. Currently, he serves on the USTA MS High Performance committee and the AMD Board.

A 1981 graduate of Erie' Mercyhurst College, where he posted an 81-32 singles and a 72-27 doubles record, Andy was a five-time All-American and Academic All-American and advanced to the NAIA National quarter finals twice. Andy also successfully coached the Lakers from 1982-'86. In addition, he earned the Erie College Athlete of the Year, the Outstanding Senior Scholar-Athlete Award, and in 2004, was inducted into the Mercyhurst Athletics Hall of Fame. Also, Andy is a senior partner at www.SpringBreakTennis.com, an annual collegiate event for over 200 teams at Hilton Head Island, SC.

Top college coaches and players are personally selected and intensely trained by the director. Their energy, enthusiasm, and friendliness help create the magic of camp, and their leadership, personality, and integrity blend with their vast tennis experiences. Background checks have been conducted.
