As the Intense Tennis Camps' 25th-year director, CEO, owner, founder, Tennis Director at both Lake Shore C.C. & Pennbriar A.C. in Erie, PA, and USTA MS Section Coach, and with over 47 years of tennis experience, Andy Findlay brings confidence, determination, engagement, professionalism, imagination, intensity, resilience, respect, toughness, and the magic of the Intense Tennis Camps to picturesque Slippery Rock Univ. of Pa.

Co-Director Matt Meredith, PTR, a DuBois, PA native, began his college coaching career at SRU in 1996. In 19 seasons as the Rock's Head Women's Coach, Meredith, who sports 30 years of teaching experience, has compiled amassed 280 wins and is SRUs all time leader in career wins. A 1992 Rock graduate, Matt was a two-time team MVP, three-year letterman, and a four-time captain during his playing days. He was especially effective in doubles matches, as he compiled a 38-20 record. As a coach, he is a six-time PSAC Coach-of-the-Year and claimed the ITA East Region's top honor in 2002 and 2008. In 2016, the Rock played in their tenth consecutive NCAA DII Atlantic Regional Tournament! Under Meredith, the Rock has made 14 appearances in both PSAC and NCAA DII post-season competition and have averaged 16.8 wins in the last 12 seasons. I 2017, the team was 9-11. After launching a very comprehensive 10andUnder Tennis program on the SRU campus, Coach Meredith was named the 2011 USTA/ITA QuickStart Tennis Provider-of-the-Year Award.

Andy Teaching

From 1992-2003, Andy was the Head Coach at Edinboro University of PA where he was the men's PSAC Coach-of-the-Year in 2000 & '03. Also, Andy serves as Lead Coach at the USTA Sectional Training Center (STC) in Pittsburgh and has attended 47 USTA national workshops. From 1997-2013, he coached the USTA MS Boys' 18s at national championship events in Champaign, IL and Kalamazoo, MI. Since 2012, Andy has performed National Coaching for the USTA at the L1 National Spring Team Championships in Mobile, AL and the RTC in Philadelphia.

In 1999, Andy completed the USTA’s High Performance Coaches seminar program in Miami. Also in '99, Andy passed the USTA's Sport Science Level I & II testing, and he won the national USTA Collegiate Community Service Award for Div. II schools. As a USPTA Elite Professional, Andy has completed USPTA Continuing Education requirements for life. In 2010, Findlay was named the USPTA MS Pro-of-the-Year. Currently, he serves on the USTA MS Coaches Commission and is the PIAA D10 Girls' Tournament Director. In 2013, Findlay received the AMD President's Award for "extraordinary, dedication to junior tennis players and player development." Andy is also the Tennis Director at Lake Shore Country Club in Fairview, PA.

A 1981 graduate of Erie' Mercyhurst College, where he posted an 81-32 singles and a 72-27 doubles record, Andy was a five-time All-American and Academic All-American and advanced to the NAIA National quarter finals twice. Andy also successfully coached the Lakers from 1982-'86. In addition, he earned the Erie College Athlete of the Year, the Outstanding Senior Scholar-Athlete Award, and in 2004, was inducted into the Mercyhurst Athletics Hall of Fame. Also, Andy is a senior partner at www.SpringBreakTennis.com, an annual collegiate event for over 200 teams at Hilton Head Island, SC. Andy represented USTA MS as part of the #1 doubles pair in age group tennis at the Donoff Cup in Cincinnati in Aug. 2015.

Our intense, certified, camp staff members are selected to encourage campers' growth both physically and emotionally in an educational, fun, and safe environment.

Top college coaches and players are personally selected and intensely trained by the director. Their energy, enthusiasm, and friendliness help create the magic of camp, and their imagination, integrity, leadership, and personality blend with their vast tennis experiences. NCSI background checks have been successfully completed on all counselors. In addition to Findlay and Meredith, 2018 counselors include: Kody Duncan (Head Coach, Edinboro Univ.); Chris Jiuliante (IUP); Lauren Fadden, SRU; Olivia Warner, SRU; Alex Huffman, WVU; John Rutkowski, St. Bonaventure; Spencer Selman, Kent State.
